US Defense Secretary Ashton Carter said Thursday that America's collusion with the Philippines was "ironclad," regardless of that nation's leader vowing a day prior to end joint military activities.
"As it has been for a considerable length of time, our partnership with the Philippines is ironclad," Carter said, tending to troops on board the USS Carl Vinson plane carrying warship, docked in San Diego.
On Wednesday, Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte said he would soon end joint military activities with the United States.
Such a move could assist hose relations with Manila's long-lasting partner after the questionable pioneer marked US President Barack Obama a "child of a prostitute."
Talking in Hanoi amid a two-day visit to Vietnam, Duterte said one month from now's military drills with America would be the last.
